Grand Junction

When I first read in my acceptance letter from Rotary that I was going to spend a year in a city called Grand Junction located in the state Colorado I had a few doubts. I googled it and found out that Grand Junction was going to be a very interesting adventure for me.

Grand Junction is located in the very western part of Colorado; right next to Utah. The valley is right between the Utah dessert and the Colorado Rockies. It results in an interesting mix of weather. During the summer it is very hot in Grand Junction; highs around 40-45°C. During the winter the lows are around -10--20°C.

The city of Grand Junction counts about 50.000 wonderful inhabitants; the entire Grand Valley counts about 100.000 inhabitants Grand Junctions is home for smaller and larger companies as well as citizens of different statuses.

Downtown Grand Junction is a very neat and cozy place with small little shops and restaurants and lots of events such as markets, parades and festivals.

The landscape is very beautiful near Grand Junction. Grand Mesa, which is the biggest mountain that is flat on top, is one of the magnificent places near Grand Junction.

I personally loved living in Grand Junction and it will always be my second hometown.

I was hosted by the Grand Junction Downtown Rotary Club. This club is a great Rotary Club with 328 generous members. I thank the Grand Junction Downtown Rotary Club a million times for hosting me and giving me such a wonderful and unforgettable year in Grand Junction.
